DeSales University Principles of Management Class

December, 2009

Most people have heard the phrase "You won't know until you try" before.  This was precisely what Dave Woods, Business and Management Professor at DeSales University, wanted his Principles of Management Class to experience.  For the second year in a row Camelot was fortunate enough to be involved in Dave's creative teaching ways.  Last year a student group from his class was able to raise money through their final assignment for Camelot for Children while putting their management knowledge and concepts learned through the semester to use.  This year his entire class's final projects would be benefiting Camelot!!

On Thursday, December 10th Abby and Jo Ellen were invited to hear about the student's experiences with their fund raising and management efforts.  It was very interesting to hear some of the bumps in the road, fund raising ideas, how group dynamics played a role and of course the successes of their assignments.  Team representatives from each group shared a bit about their ideas and experiences with Abby, Jo Ellen and the rest of the class.  Some ideas included tee-shirt sales, raffle items, global fund raising, restaurant fundraisers, wristband sales and many other wonderful and creative ideas.

After hearing about all that was involved in the projects and learning some Management principles through Dave's presentation the class presented Abby and Jo Ellen with a Check for $4,471!!!  Abby and Jo Ellen were thrilled with the success of the projects and so grateful to Dave and the students for their hard work, creativity and dedication.  The students not only were able to help by providing a financial donation, but also through their efforts they were able to help to introduce and spread the name and mission of Camelot for Children to others in and outside the Lehigh Valley.

This is truly a fabulous gift from the students, Dave Woods and DeSales University.  We are honored to be the recipient of Dave's lessons and the Student's efforts.  It is wonderful to see students not only receiving a great education but being taught in a way that not only benefits them, but also benefits charity organizations and shows students how they can use their education and talents to help others in need.  Camelot for Children proudly thanks everyone for their fantastic efforts!
